Vanilla extract: This adds another layer of flavor but you can leave it out or use a different extract.
Espresso powder: Another ingredient that adds a layer of flavor. Non-coffee fans can omit it.
Cool Whip: For a rich creaminess. Use homemade whipped cream if you prefer.

Brownie Mix Dip FAQs

Which brownie mix makes the best brownie batter dip?

This is down to personal preference, as you can use any of them. The Ghirardelli brownie mix is especially delicious because it’s so rich.

Is it safe to eat raw brownie batter?

There is raw flour in brownie mix which has a very low risk of foodborne illness, but if you heat-treat the brownie mix in a microwave this makes it safe to consume. Another idea would be spreading it over a baking sheet and giving it 5 minutes in a 350-degree F oven.

Can you use whipping cream instead of whipped topping?

Yes, if you whip it first. Whisk 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream in a mixing bowl until it forms soft peaks, and then use it in the recipe in place of the Cool Whip.
