How to Store Green Juice

Store: For optimal storage, pour green juice into airtight, opaque containers such as glass or stainless steel and refrigerate it right away. Fill the container to the top to reduce air exposure, and aim to drink it within 24 to 48 hours for the best flavor and freshness. Vacuum sealing can help extend the shelf life even further.
Freeze: You can freeze it for up to 2 months. Don’t forget you need to leave an inch or so space at the top for expansion.
Thaw: Defrost in the fridge overnight.

Green Juice FAQs

What other vegetables can I add?

Along with the ingredients listed you can throw in any fruits or veggies you like. Anything slightly beyond its prime can go into the blender. Tomatoes which are slightly squishy? Apples which have gone a bit soft? Baby spinach that’s been in the refrigerator a week? Into the blender they go! If you’re using a blender, I’d recommend sticking to baby kale or else removing the coarse ribs. A juicer would remove those parts but a blender won’t and you’ll have fewer solids to squeeze in your nut milk bag or cheesecloth if you just chop off the tough fibrous bits beforehand.

Can I skip straining if I want a thicker drink?

Yes, but it will be more like a smoothie than a juice.

Is it okay to use frozen greens?

Yes, just thaw them slightly before blending.

Do I need a nut milk bag?

You can use a nut milk bag, fine mesh strainer or a cheesecloth to strain the green juice mixture. A nut milk bag has a good shape for straining the juice (since it’s used for making nut milks) and it also sieves it well. Cheesecloth tends to have a larger mesh so you might need to layer it several times. It will work though – it’s just slightly more fiddly!
