When is the Best Time to Drink Green Juice?

The answer is really any time! Don’t be put off by the stark green color of this drink. I down this most mornings as a nutritious and healthy morning beverage to kickstart my day, and it leaves me feeling awesome.

It’s also a refreshing choice for after training or intense exercise, such as a hike, helping to fuel and nourish your body for recovery. And if you like fruits and veggies, you will love the flavour of this as well.

Green Juice without a Juicer: What to Use Instead

You can use a cheesecloth or nut milk bag to make this green juice. No juicer needed! You’ll find it an easy way to make green juice.

A high-speed blender is your best bet to pulverise the ingredients and get everything the right consistency. It also means you won’t have a huge juicer taking up valuable countertop space!

You can use a nut milk bag, fine mesh strainer or a cheesecloth to strain the green juice mixture through – either will work here. A nut milk bag has a good shape for straining the juice (since it’s used for making nut milks) and it also sieves it well. Cheesecloth tends to have a larger mesh so you might need to layer it several times. It will work though – it’s just slightly more fiddly!

If you don’t have either but you can’t wait to make this recipe, then you can drink it without straining. It won’t be green juice any more – more like green smoothie! But it’ll still taste pretty amazing.

Making green juice in a blender means you can save a few dollars (green juice is expensive if you buy it often!) and make your own at home.

What Fruits and Vegetables Do I Add to Green Juice?

Along with the ingredients listed you can throw in any fruits or veggies you like. Anything slightly beyond its prime can go into the blender. Tomatoes which are slightly squishy? Apples which have gone a bit soft? Baby spinach that’s been in the refrigerator a week? Into the blender they go!

If you’re using a blender, I’d recommend sticking to baby kale or else removing the coarse ribs. A juicer would remove those parts but a blender won’t and you’ll have fewer solids to squeeze in your nut milk bag or cheesecloth if you just chop off the tough fibrous bits beforehand. Green juice without a juicer is easier than you think, my friends!

The apple gives the juice the right amount of sweetness while the ginger puts that extra bit of kick into it. Delicious!

It’s that drink I yearn for when my immune system is lacking, or I’m feeling a bit ill. The powerful ingredients certainly help me to feel better and recover with their antioxidants. Simply put, it’s a drink that makes you feel good.
