Frozen Strawberry Lime Daiquiri Ingredients

This rum cocktail recipe calls for white rum. You can use any brand you happen to like or have on hand. White rum is clear or almost clear in color and pairs well with the sweeter ingredients in this drink. Bacardi is fine or use another brand if you prefer.

You will also need strawberries. I use both fresh and frozen. If they aren’t in season you could go with frozen only. White sugar adds sweetness and then lime juice adds a zingy twist. If you make cocktails at home you might already have these rum cocktail recipe ingredients.

Easy Way to Make a Daiquiri

Your blender is your best friend for the best daiquiri recipe. It saves you time and effort and produces a perfectly mixed, chilled drink. You can make the frozen strawberry lime daiquiri thicker by adding more ice cubes to the mix. Pop all the ingredients in the blender and press the button. Very soon this flavourful summer cocktail recipe will be ready to drink.

Why Do Iced Drinks Cause Brain Freeze?

Drinking a frozen lime daiquiri or any other frozen cocktail can cause brain freeze. So does ice cream! We all know and hate that sharp pain! You might be wondering why it happens. What causes brain freeze?

When you sip on a frozen drink or eat an ice cream too fast, your change the temperature in your throat too fast. The internal carotoid artery, which feeds blood up to the brain, alerts the brain to what’s going on. The brain doesn’t like changes and brain freeze is the way it alerts you. The brain itself can’t feel pain but its outer covering can.

So how do you get rid of brain freeze? This one’s simple. Even though it’s the best daiquiri recipe and you will want to keep sipping, pace yourself. If you do have brain freeze from this frozen strawberry lime daiquiri, press your tongue to the roof of your mouth. This gets rid of it!

Frozen Strawberry Lime Daiquiri Variations

This flavourful summer cocktail recipe is wonderful just as it is. However, you can always tweak cocktail recipes to come up with brand new ones! Add your own riff by trying another citrus in place of the lime. Orange or lemon would work.

Add a dash of grapefruit juice and maraschino cherry liqueur to a basic daiquiri recipe to make a Hemingway daiquiri. That was Ernest Hemingway’s favourite tipple. Or try an aged, spiced or dark rum instead of the white variety for a new twist.

Although this is an easy way to make a daiquiri, this flavourful summer cocktail recipe pre-dates the first blender. If you’re more into chilled drinks than frozen ones (or your blender is broken!) you can make this another way. Use fresh strawberries and mash them in a cocktail shaker. Add the other ingredients and shake vigorously. Serve over ice cubes if liked.

What Glass is Best for Daiquiris?

This rum cocktail recipe used to be served in chilled coupe glasses. Martini glasses are more common these days. They are also served in cocktail glasses which are similar to martini glasses but more rounded and narrower. You can use any glass really, adding wide straws so you can suck up all that frozen yumminess.

The best daiquiri recipe is always the one you make yourself – with or without tweaks. Now you know an easy way to make a daiquiri (thanks, blender!) you can prepare great ones.
