Bourbon Holiday Drink Ingredients
As well as bourbon and Chambord raspberry liqueur, you will need grenadine, bitters, raspberries, mint, and sparkling water. Those are all the ingredients used to make this fabulous raspberry bourbon smash cocktail.
What is Chambord?
This ingredient might not be something you know or have in the cupboard. What is Chambord exactly? Well, it’s a sweet, fruity, rich-tasting liqueur with raspberry and citrus flavours. If you don’t have it, you can sub crème de cassis (blackcurrant liqueur) or raspberry juice.
What are Bitters?
Bitters are an ingredient you add to cocktails to add flavour, rather than something you drink by itself. Bitters are a mixture of spices and herbs in an alcoholic base.
They are very concentrated so you only need a few drops to add flavour to your raspberry bourbon smash cocktail. Interestingly only one person knows the exact recipe. It’s passed down the generations.
How to Make this Bourbon Drink Recipe
So what are the steps to make raspberry bourbon smash cocktail? First you need to add fresh raspberries and fresh mint leaves to the bottom of a glass. Next add the bitters and grenadine.
After that you can use a muddler or wooden spoon to combine and mash all the ingredients together. Add the ice, Chambord, bourbon and sparkling water.
Finally garnish this bourbon and Chambord raspberry liqueur drink with raspberries and mint, and enjoy! This is an idea cocktail for summer or winter. It’s great any time!
Raspberries are mainly sweet with a tart flavour in there too, so they go perfectly in this drink. The Chambord should add enough sweetness to the mix, since it’s a sweet liqueur. If you prefer it sweeter though, you can always add a splash of simple syrup.
The fresh mint adds a fresh touch and gives it a breezy summer feel. It’s important to make sure the mint and raspberries are well muddled, so don’t be afraid to crush them up. The more you do this, the more flavourful your cocktail with raspberries and mint leaves will be!

Rather than the sparkling water in this bourbon holiday drink, you can use seltzer water, club soda or even raspberry flavoured sparkling water. Raspberry syrup can take the place of grenadine. You could even use blackberries in place of the raspberries or even a combination of both.
This delicious cocktail with raspberries offers sweet, fruity flavours in every sip. Raspberry bourbon smash cocktail is so easy to prepare. It’s mainly a question of adding the right ingredients and mixing them together. Prepare this bourbon holiday drink to impress your friends.
How to Choose the Freshest Raspberries
Whether raspberries are in season or not, it pays to know how to select the best. They are a key component in this easy bourbon drink recipe. Choose firm, fully ripe and plump berries. If you’re picking your own, avoid any that aren’t completely ripe yet.
Some berries (like strawberries) can be picked under-ripe then ripened after, but not raspberries. They don’t ripen more after being picked. Pull on a raspberry gently and if it’s ripe it will easily come off the bush. Fresh raspberries keep for a few days in the refrigerator. You will be able to see when they need using up.
Not only are raspberries delicious but they’re also high in antioxidants which help keep you healthy. They’re one of my favourite berries and I love them in everything from smoothies to dessert. And when they’re in season and super-fresh, they taste even better!
