Kiwi Jalapeno Margarita Cocktail Ingredients
Let’s take a closer look at everything from the cocktail made with kiwi fruit and tequila to the special chile rimmed glass. This is a tequila based cocktail and you can use any type of tequila to make it.
Considering the explosion of spice and flavours, it probably isn’t a good idea to use your most expensive vintage reposado. Just use whichever you like.
It’s a margarita so you also need lime juice. It goes without saying that fresh lime juice is the best option for the best spicy margarita. You also need lime wedges for this, so grab some fresh limes to make it.
Kiwis provide the sweetness in this unique cocktail using tequila and orange liqueur. They also look really pretty and colourful in the cocktail. Orange liqueur is another sweet ingredient and you can use Cointreau, Grand Marnier or any orange liqueur you prefer.
The spicy kick in this zesty margarita recipe comes from the jalapeno. The chile rimmed glass adds extra spice. You can absolutely adjust the amount of jalapeno. Not everyone likes the same level of spice and this is your kiwi jalapeno margarita cocktail.
How to Make a Chile Rimmed Glass
I’m sure you’ve had a salted rim before but this one takes the heat up a notch with chile. You can either use chile powder or Tajín. I love Tajín – it’s a south-of-the-border seasoning and it’s so versatile. Tajín is a combination of salt, lime and chile. It’s great sprinkled over fruit or used as a seasoning. You can rim cocktail glasses with it too. It can be purchased or you can use this homemade Tajín recipe.
Wet the glass rim with lime juice. The easiest way to do this is rub a lime wedge around it. Then you can roll the glass rim in chile powder or Tajin. If you’re undecided whether you want a spicy rim or not, just do half the glass. Then if you don’t like it you can drink out of the un-spicy side!
What Kind of Glass Should I Use?
Serve this kiwi margarita cocktail in a margarita glass or martini glass if you prefer. There are no hard and fast rules about matching cocktails to glasses so just use whatever you happen to have. This cocktail using tequila and orange liqueur will takes incredible in any glass.
Are there Variations of this Cocktail?
Just like with pretty much every cocktail recipe ever, this kiwi spicy margarita has a few variations. If you want to enjoy the best spicy margarita and you like things hot, sub serrano chile for the jalapeno. For those that are really brave, habanero peppers are another idea. If your palate is at the other end of the scale and you want something less strong, use less jalapeno in there.
Try other fruits instead of the kiwi, such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or whatever is in season. Any berry or soft fruit would be incredibly in this zest margarita recipe. I love this cocktail made with kiwis but it’s also so good with berries. Try both to see which you prefer!
What to Serve with a Zesty Margarita Recipe
Order a margarita in a Mexican restaurant and you might get some chips and salsa on the side. This versatile cocktail made with kiwis goes with all kinds of snacks though. Tortilla chips with a combo of dips (maybe tomato salsa, guacamole and queso dip) is another great snack.
Continue the Mexican vibe by making some fresh seafood ceviche. That would be a great pairing for a warm summer evening.
As long as you have a blender and the kiwi jalapeno margarita cocktail ingredients you can create this mouth-watering drink. It’s quick and easy to prepare and one of the best spicy margarita recipes ever. Whatever you serve alongside this kiwi jalapeno margarita cocktail, you are definitely going to love the taste.
