Butterfinger Bites Ingredients
A complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
Peanut butter: I like to use both creamy peanut butter and crunchy peanut butter. You can use natural peanut butter or sweetened (if it’s sweetened you might need to adjust the amount of sugar you use).
White sugar: For sweetness.
Honey: Also for sweetness.
Corn Flakes: For crunch and that melted candy corn taste. Any brand works.
Chocolate chips: To melt for the coating.

Prepare the filling: Melt the peanut butter, sugar and honey in a pan on the stove until smooth.
Add the corn flakes: Turn off the heat and then add the corn flakes, stirring them and breaking them down into the peanut butter mixture.
Shape the Butterfinger bites: Chill the peanut butter mixture for half an hour and then divide into 12 balls. Arrange them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and chill for another 30 minutes.
Make the chocolate coating: Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave and dip each Butterfinger ball in there, allowing excess chocolate to drip off. Arrange them on the parchment paper lined baking sheet again and chill for an hour or until set before serving.
Substitutions and Variations
Honey: You can use maple syrup in a pinch as a substitute for honey. The honey is going to give your Butterfinger bites more of that classic Butterfinger flavor but maple syrup will have a similar effect as far as the texture of your candy bites.
Peanut butter: If you only have creamy peanut butter then you can add ¼ cup of chopped peanuts. You’ll want your peanuts to be as chopped as they would be to use as an ice cream topping. Allergic to peanuts? Almond butter can be used in its place (add in some chopped almonds for crunch too).
Chocolate chips: For a lighter, sweeter flavor you can use milk chocolate. For a deeper, richer flavor you can use dark chocolate. You might need slightly more chilling time if using milk chocolate. Combine chocolate chips with a little coconut oil if you want to make tempered chocolate (it’s slightly smoother that way but I just used the melted chocolate chips without additional oil and mine came out perfect).
Corn flakes: These give a melted candy corn flavor and satisfying crunch. Swap for graham cracker crumbs if liked.
Serving Suggestions
As a sweet snack: Pair the homemade Butterfingers with anything from a mango smoothie to a peanut butter hot chocolate.
For dessert: Butterfinger candy bar bites are delicious after a meal of Instant Pot chicken tinga or cranberry balsamic roast beef.
As a dessert topping: Top your next tiramisu cheesecake or strawberry tiramisu with chopped Butterfinger bites to add a contrasting flavor.
How to Store Butterfinger Buckeye Balls
Store: Keep them in an airtight container or Ziploc bag in the refrigerator and eat within 2 weeks.
Freeze: You can freeze these in an airtight container for a month or two.
Thaw: Defrost it in the refrigerator overnight. Or enjoy them frozen.
Top Tips
Don’t overheat the peanut butter: It should only be on the burner until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is completely smooth. Take it off the heat as soon as it’s done.
Break up the Corn Flakes: The Corn Flakes help give your Butterfinger bites their wonderfully crunchy texture. It’s important to break the cereal up as you mix it into the peanut butter. If not, you’ll end up with big clumps of corn flakes.
Butterfinger bites size: Your Butterfinger bites will be about 2 tablespoons in size, for reference when dividing the filling.
Easy No-Bake Butterfinger Bites FAQs
You can shape your Butterfinger bites however you like. After chilling, the filling is quite malleable, so you can do balls, disks or logs. You’ll want to divide your filling into 12 evenly-sized pieces no matter how you want to shape it.
Depending on the wattage of your microwave, you will need about 90 seconds to completely melt your chocolate chips. Make sure you stir the chocolate every 30 seconds, otherwise the chocolate on the bottom will be scorching hot before the chocolate on the top even starts to melt.
Use whichever you have. They both work to stop the candies from sticking to the baking sheet.
