Super Easy Sangria Recipe Ingredients
You need a bottle of white wine to make this summer fruit cocktail recipe. A semi-dry wine is a good choice or you could use dry wine if you prefer it. Lemon, lime and orange slices bring the citrus game to the drink. Mango and strawberries also go into the mix.
Grand Marnier strengthens the orange flavour and complements this refreshing summer drink. Club soda and some fresh mint are the only other ingredients in this mango citrus berry white sangria.
How to Make Mango Sangria
Once you have sliced and chopped the fruit, you need to put the strawberries in a pitcher and sprinkle the sugar on top. The sugar will help draw the sweet juices out of the berries. The remaining fruit can go in there next, followed by the Grand Marnier (orange liqueur) and orange juice.
Now you can add the white wine and mix everything together with a wooden spoon. Refrigerate this white sangria with summer fruit for three hours. This allows the flavours to blend and you’ll end up with a delicious summer fruit cocktail recipe.
Don’t add any ice to this mango citrus berry white sangria until you’re ready to serve it, else you will just be diluting the drink. Add some club soda when you add the ice, and then garnish the pitcher with some fresh mint if you like.
The History of Sangria
This super-easy sangria recipe is so good. One sip and you’ll be hooked on the fresh, fruity flavours! So how much do you know about sangria apart from the fact it’s Spanish and made from wine?
Actually we can thank the Romans for sangria! They planted vineyards more than 2000 years ago which went right through the Iberian Peninsula. Water wasn’t always safe to drink so alcohol was used to fortify it back then, killing any bacteria.
This means the earliest sangria recipe would be a watered down mixture of water, wine, herbs, and spices. The name comes from ‘sangre’ – Spanish for blood, because of the dark colour.
This cocktail was introduced to the Americas in the early 19th century, perhaps at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.
Sangria in Spain
There is no standard sangria recipe in Spain, so you aren’t likely to find mango citrus berry white sangria there. Instead, you will probably get a tourist version of sangria made with cheap red wine, ice and sweetened lemon soda. If a splash of vermouth and a slice of orange are added, then it becomes house sangria!
White Sangria with Summer Fruit: Some Tips
The best way to ensure this summer fruit cocktail recipe comes out well is to use great quality ingredients. Use fresh fruit and a wine you like. Make sure you chill it for a minimum of three hours in the refrigerator before adding the club soda and ice and serving it.

This mango citrus berry white sangria with summer fruit is great at any time. It’s especially perfect as a refreshing summer drink because it’s much lighter than red sangria.
If you want to make this already special cocktail extra-special, consider champagne instead of white wine. You could even use cava, prosecco or sparkling white wine. Sparkling rose would also work.
What to Serve with White Sangria
Serve some delicate tapas with this refreshing summer drink. A platter of Spanish meats and cheeses is always good. Other options include chips with a creamy dip or even a ceviche recipe. Anything light and easy to snack on would pair wonderfully with white sangria with summer fruit.
This mango citrus berry white sangria is so delicious. It’s best to make more than you think you’ll need. The reason for this is it needs to chill for three hours so you can’t just rustle up a new batch when you notice the pitcher is nearly empty! Well, you could, but it wouldn’t taste quite as good without the chilling time.
