This coconut strawberry kiwi smoothie is quick and easy to make and tastes amazing. It’s a 2-color smoothie with plenty of fruity flavor in every sip.

It falls somewhere between a healthy shake and a decadent dessert. Whether you want to get your five-a-day or treat yourself, this layered smoothie recipe will do just that. It’s pretty to look at and one of the best smoothie with coconut drinks I’ve tried!
Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie Ingredients
I love using frozen fruit to make smoothies. It ensures they’re refreshingly chilled and saves having to add ice cubes to the mix. Keep chopped frozen fruit in the freezer and grab a handful whenever you want a two colour smoothie.
Chopping it first means you can add only as much as you need and it’s also easier on your blender. Fruit doesn’t last so long in the refrigerator or on the countertop. But freeze it in Ziploc bags and it will keep for months. Frozen fruit tastes every bit as good as fresh in a layered smoothie recipe like this strawberry kiwi banana smoothie.
How to Layer a Smoothie
It’s really easy to make a two colour smoothie. All that’s involved is making two separate mixtures. Pour the thicker mixture into your glass first so the slightly thinner mixture floats on top. Drink from the top and you can enjoy the top layer first. Or use a straw and sip the bottom layer first.
I blended all the ingredients for the banana kiwi mixture first. Before you even start making this smoothie with coconut, ensure your blender is up to the job. Not every blender is equipped to handle hard ingredients like nuts, ice or frozen fruit.
I added a banana and kiwi to the blender with coconut milk and vanilla. I also threw in some chia seeds, but you can leave those out if you don’t have any.
Pulse or blend the ingredients in the blender until you have a smooth mixture. Divide it between two serving glasses. Now you can make the coconut strawberry layer. You don’t have to clean the blender out before making the second layer.
The top layer is a combination of banana, strawberries and coconut milk. You can add some more chia seeds on top for decoration if you want.
Smoothie Layering Variations
Knowing how to layer a smoothie also involves making sure you have two different colours. It just looks prettier that way. If you want to get even fancier, layer half of one mixture in, then half the other, then repeat so you end up with four layers. This kiwi strawberry smoothie is a favourite!
Another option is to make three different layers. Actually you can make as many layers as you want and change the colour by adding different ingredients! This strawberry kiwi smoothie is a wonderful recipe to experiment with. Try blueberries to make the pink layer more purple.
What are Chia Seeds?
You’ll see this recipe calls for chia seeds although they are an optional ingredient. Chia seeds are a superfood. They’re high in fibre and anxioxidants as well as omega-3 fatty acids (great for brain health!) They digest slowly, keeping you feeling full for longer.
Chia seeds are actually a member of the mint family. They don’t have much flavour so can go into breads, salads, desserts, smoothies, and more. They are also nice in this drink made with strawberries and kiwi.
This kiwi tool is one you need to check out. It removes the kiwi from the skin and makes pieces with ease.
Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie Variations
If you love to tweak recipes, this layered smoothie recipe is great for that. All kinds of fruit are good in a smoothie recipe and you can use a mixture of fresh and frozen. Pineapple, cherries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, melon, peach, and pear are just some ideas. All you need to do is peel anything that needs to be peeled and discard any inedible parts like stems or seeds.
You can swap the coconut milk for almond milk or oat milk. Whole milk is also fine if you eat dairy. This strawberry banana kiwi smoothie suits pretty much any type of milk you can think of.
For anyone that is a fan of smoothies, you should also add this triple berry smoothie, mango banana matcha smoothie or this banana smoothie with cashew butter into your rotation.

Perfectly refreshing and so delicious. One of my new favorite smoothie recipes.
I love coconut, but I am curious about how it works with berry and kiwi. And it was heavenly!
