Although there are some nice lactose-free cow milks available, as well as other non-dairy options, honestly this recipe doesn’t need the milk.

Also try this dairy free cashew butter banana smoothie, dairy free pulled pork coleslaw or perhaps this vegan mushroom ragu.

I find the key to making a vegan smoothie which tastes incredible is using fresh fruit. Fresh peach, banana, orange and pineapple combine with ice to make this wonderful fresh pineapple peach smoothie.

This is great for any meal or occasion. You can enjoy it for breakfast or with brunch, as a dessert or just as something refreshing on a hot day. Looking for something fruity but for a party? Throw in a shot of rum or vodka to take it up a notch!

What is a Smoothie Exactly?

So what’s the difference between a smoothie, a milkshake, a juice and so on? Well, a smoothie is typically defined as a fruit and/or vegetable mixture pureed to beverage consistency.

The liquid in there can be water, juice, milk, yogurt or ice cream. Other additions might include sweeteners, whey powder, nutrient mixtures, and more. A milkshake is a dairy-based milk drink, and a juice is usually just pure juice.

There are some crossovers though, and this smoothie with pineapple could also be called a juice drink. What’s important though, isn’t what you call this fresh pineapple peach smoothie but how good it tastes. And believe me, it does!

Health food stores in the California area began to sell smoothies in the 1930s. This is when they were associated with the invention of the first electric blenders. The word ‘smoothie’ wasn’t really used until the mid-1980s though.

Fresh Pineapple Peach Smoothie: Some Tips

You can use frozen fruit instead of fresh and the difference should be minimal. Just ensure you have a blender strong enough to handle ice and frozen fruit. Most of them can these days, but maybe try a little in there first to make sure! If you’re using fresh pineapple, you can even serve this smoothie with pineapple in the pineapple fruit shell. That looks so tropical and fun!

Total Time: 5 minutes

  • If the smoothie is too thick, add a little more pineapple juice, and stop when your desired smoothie consistency is achieved.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Use a reliable blender: You can use frozen fruit instead of fresh and the difference should be minimal. Just ensure you have a high speed blender that’s strong enough to handle ice and frozen fruit. Most of them can these days, but maybe try a little in there first to make sure!
A pineapple garnish: If you’re using fresh pineapple, you can even serve this smoothie with pineapple in the pineapple fruit shell. That looks so tropical and fun!
Peach skin: Peel your peach if you wish but you can also leave the skin on if you prefer. The blender will get the skin into tiny pieces and that way you’re enjoying extra nutrients in the smoothie.

Whether you are using fresh or frozen fruit, as well as the exact ripeness stage and size of the fruit determines the thickness of this smoothie. This is the best dairy free smoothie in my opinion, but it can come out thicker or thinner than expected. If it’s too thick after blending, it is easy enough to add a little more fruit juice to the mix. You could even add some dairy-free milk, cream or yogurt for a different flavour.

Why Smoothies are Good for You

Not only are smoothies delicious, but it’s also really easy to pack the nutrition in. You might not necessarily want to eat three pieces of fruit in one sitting, but add them to a blender with some ice, and the resulting drink is the perfect amount. And you end up getting all the nutrition from the fruit. Juicing removes the fibre from fruit as well as the skin and other parts, while smoothie making doesn’t.

With a smoothie you will end up getting the healthy fibre as well as the nutrients found just under the skin of fruits whose skin you can eat. Of course you aren’t going to throw an unpeeled banana or pineapple into the blender. That would just be messy!

But leave the skin on the peach if you like. The blender will get the pieces really tiny. Of course if you prefer to peel it that’s fine too. That means you will still be getting vitamins and minerals in this vegan smoothie. Morning Green Juice Without a Juicer is also easy to make if you are looking to get into juicing.
