Ginger Snap Eggnog Jello Pudding Shots Ingredients
Ginger snap cookies offer plenty of wonderful ginger taste in these boozy pudding cups, and ground nutmeg complements this flavor. Vanilla instant pudding, eggnog, and whipped topping also go into the mix. Dark rum or black spiced rum and RumChata feature in these shots with alcohol too.
Use any brands of cookies, instant pudding and whipped topping you want. As for the eggnog, you can use store-bought eggnog or make your own homemade eggnog, if you prefer. If you don’t want to use anything with eggs, you might prefer this Puerto Rican eggnog-like drink. It doesn’t have eggs in there but is very similar to eggnog.
How to Make Eggnog Pudding Shots
Ginger snap eggnog jello pudding shots are so simple to make. First you need to whisk the eggnog and pudding mix together for a minute to make the eggnog mixture. Mix in the black spiced rum and RumChata to make an eggnog-rum mixture.
Next you can mix in the thawed whipped topping and nutmeg. Keep the eggnog shooters mixture chilled until serving. When you’re ready to serve them, put crushed ginger snap cookies in individual shot glasses ( these are the shot glasses I used) or plastic shot glasses and then add the pudding mixture and finally a ginger snap cookie on top. It is the perfect garnish for this boozy eggnog recipe!
How to Eat Pudding Shots
Since boozy pudding cups and similar Jello shot recipes with alcohol and pudding aren’t exactly liquid, you might be curious how to drink (eat?) them.
Well, I like to have a couple of ginger cookies with mine, so I can use the cookies to scoop out the pudding mixture. You could also serve them with little spoons if you prefer. No matter how you eat them, these jiggly seasonal shots are going to become a tradition for the holiday season.
Classic jello shots are easier, since you can just run your tongue around them and the whole thing will go into your mouth. But these are so good you will definitely find a way to get every last bit of these fun eggnog jello shots! These Christmas or Thanksgiving pudding shots are sure to be a hit!
Variations for these Holiday Shooters
Cocktails and shooters are a great addition to the menu for holiday parties. If you are like me, trying new recipes is a highlight of the season. While these eggnog shots are ginger snap flavoured, you could use cinnamon stick, candy canes or even chocolate cookies to flavour these fabulous eggnog jello shots.
Ginger Snap Eggnog Jello Pudding Shots FAQs
If you are looking for make-ahead shooters, these are perfect. You can make ththis boozy eggnog recipe up to three days ahead.
Just keep them covered with plastic wrap and don’t add the cookie on top until just before serving (else it will go soggy).
You can normally use non-dairy milk alternatives with puddings but, when making shots with alcohol, that isn’t going to work. The reason is alcohol can hinder boozy pudding cups from setting and they will come out way too runny.
Another tip to make sure these set well is to pop the ingredients into the freezer for about 10 minutes before starting the recipe. At least chill the alcohol. The colder they are, the quicker the shots will set. Obviously don’t let any ingredients completely freeze. And do the opposite with the whipped topping, letting it thaw before use.
