Pumpkin spice whipped Dalgona coffee sounds intriguing. I had a lot of fun making this recipe. I love coffee, and I also adore pumpkin. That’s why I was excited to make this pumpkin whipped coffee. Can you imagine how pumpkin purée and instant coffee work together? I know it sounds like a seasonal coffee recipe or autumn coffee flavour, but it’s great at any time. The pumpkin spice lover will love this as much as the traditional Starbucks pumpkin spice latte.
Dalgona coffee is a whipped coffee beverage which tastes really good. It’s gone viral on Tik Tok. If you enjoy coffee, try this version.
Some more recipes you might enjoy include apple cider mojitos, pumpkin whoopie pies, bourbon peach ice cream, pumpkin pie popsicles, and state fair lemonade.
First Things First: What is Dalgona Coffee?
Before making this TikTok and Starbucks pumpkin drink for yourself, you might be wondering what Dalgona coffee is. It’s actually another way of saying whipped coffee.
Other names include Korean coffee, beaten coffee, and frappe coffee. It’s been around for a while but pumpkin spice whipped Dalgona coffee is making the rounds on TikTok and social media. So this means that more people are hearing about this seasonal coffee recipe than ever before.
Pumpkin Whipped Coffee Ingredients
You don’t need many ingredients to make pumpkin spice whipped Dalgona coffee. The main ingredients are the coffee and the pumpkin. You can use instant coffee here, whichever brand you favour. Use decaf if you want.
As for the pumpkin, I use canned pumpkin puree. Don’t confuse this with pumpkin pie filling which is sweetened and spiced. Check the can for ‘100% pure’ pumpkin puree to make sure that’s all that is in there.
A little pumpkin spice is beautiful in this pumpkin puree and instant coffee drink. If you don’t have that on hand, add a pinch of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and/or ginger instead. These spices add a great autumn coffee flavour.
Both boiling water and ice go into this pumpkin spice whipped Dalgona coffee. You also need milk and sugar. Use whichever type of milk you like, such as soy, almond or another nut milk, or just regular dairy milk. The sugar can be whichever kind you prefer or you can sub artificial sweetener in this pumpkin whipped coffee.
How to Make this Seasonal Coffee Recipe
You need a hand mixer or stand mixer for this TikTok and Starbucks pumpkin drink. I usually use a hand mixer. Add the boiling water, pumpkin spice, sugar, and coffee to a mixer and whisk it. It takes a couple of minutes to get frothy and airy.
Next add the pumpkin puree and whisk it in briefly, just until it’s combined. Put ice and milk in a serving glass and pour the pumpkin spice whipped coffee on top. I like to sprinkle a little extra pumpkin spice on top before serving.
Tips and Tricks for Perfect Pumpkin Whipped Coffee
So now you know how to make pumpkin spice whipped Dalgona coffee you’re going to want to make it immediately! So grab your pumpkin puree and instant coffee, along with the other ingredients in this seasonal coffee recipe.
If you’re going to use a stand mixer I would recommend doubling the recipe, else the whisk might not reach the mixture. The pumpkin spice whipped Dalgona coffee is easier to whip if you have sufficient volume. If you’re not using much liquid in total then it’s going to be trickier to whip enough air into it. Since this drink keeps in the refrigerator I often double or triple it.
With a hand mixer you can just make one serving if you want. If you only have a milk frother, you can use that but it might take up to 10 minutes that way. If all you have is a whisk, prepare yourself for a 20-minute arm workout!
I like to use a deep bowl or cup when whisking since I don’t want flecks of Dalgona coffee spraying over the kitchen!
This cappuccino-like TikTok and Starbucks pumpkin drink can be tweaked in terms of sweetness. Everyone has their own preferred sweetness level. Mix in a teaspoon of liqueur (Tia Maria or Baileys perhaps) if you’re making this for an after-dinner treat.
How to Serve It
The simplest way to enjoy the autumn coffee flavour is to sip the coffee by itself. I especially love dipping homemade chocolate chip shortbread cookies or pumpkin spice pretzels in mine. However there are more ways you can use this pumpkin spice whipped Dalgona coffee.
Spoon it over warm banana bread or cake, freeze it to make Dalgona ice cream, or top olive oil brownies with it.
It’s worth making extra because whipped coffee keeps stable in the refrigerator for a couple of days. If you’re doing this, then don’t add the milk. The foaminess will stay.
Do You Have to Use Sugar in Dalgona Coffee?
The sugar isn’t just for sweetness. It helps with the consistency. If you don’t use sugar your pumpkin puree and instant coffee drink will take longer to whip and it will collapse quicker.
